BRDM-2 is an armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle, was developed at the design bureau of the Gorky Automobile Plant and was mass-produced in the USSR from 1964 to 1989, as well as under license abroad: in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Armor BRDM protects only from bullets and small fragments, but the machine has the highest maneuverability, which is extremely important for a "scout". To overcome ditches and trenches from under the hull in the middle part, small additional wheels are extended, preventing the car from "sitting on its belly." At the same time, on a good road, the BRDM can race at speeds up to 100 km / h. The car also knows how to swim - a water-jet engine is installed in the rear of the hull. BRDM-2 is armed with installed
in a rotating turret with a large-caliber 14.5-mm machine gun KPVT and a 7.62-mm Kalashnikov PKT machine gun paired with it. Armor-piercing incendiary bullets KPVT allow the crew to destroy armored personnel carriers and other lightly armored vehicles of the enemy, and PKT is designed to fight enemy infantry. During production, various changes were made to the design of the machine.
