For more than six decades, the Bundeswehr has also relied on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. The fleet of the
Bundeswehr is closely associated with the high-terrain vehicle, which has achieved legendary fame as the Universal
Motor Implement (UNIMOG). In keeping with this tradition, the first 200 U 5023 Unimogs were handed over to
the troops in MAi 2017. Procured by BwFuhrparkService GmbH, the U 5023 meets the current requirements of
the Bundeswehr. It is powered by an extremely high-torque four-cylinder Euro VI engine of type OM 934 with a
displacement of 5.132 liters, an output of 170 kW (231 hp) and a torque of 900 Nm. Eight forward and six reverse
gears are available, with an optional off-road group for off-road operations in the speed range between 2.5 - 35 km/h.
The total weight of the U 5023 is a maximum of 15 tons.
